Virtual Agents and Conversational Engines

Virtual Agents and Conversational Engines

Virtual agents are software that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to recognize and understand human speech and its uses. Masterful AI techniques allow agents to converse and engage with real-life humans naturally and effectively.

Virtual Agents are not Typical Chatbots

While chatbots and virtual agents both enable human-to-bot dialogue, virtual agents (conversational engines) take more advantage of advanced AI methods like natural language processing (NLP) and natural language understanding (NLU).

These methods allow virtual agents not to get stuck when the human user uses synonyms, typos, or applicable abbreviations.

In addition, machine learning permits learning over time and the use of the system. Many chatbots only comprehend vocabulary they have been programmed to understand. Continuous learning is not as much of a trait for chatbots as for virtual agents – leading to humans getting involved more because of the limited system knowledge.

“We have two documents to offer you in English.”

In addition, the agent may ask,

“Which year is relevant to you?”

Through guided navigation, you can check the box of the relevant year.

 3. Right where you need it, the document containing the AI checklist will be provided.

With natural language processing, the agent finds precisely what you need and automatically extracts the information.
