Five Trends 2023: The focus is on the sustainable use of information

In view of the current challenges, there is hardly a topic that has gained more importance in recent months than sustainability. It is not just a matter of ensuring and optimizing the ecological, economic and social performance of a society.
Data, information, and knowledge also need to be handled more sustainably so that companies can do business, innovate, and work smarter.

Trey Norman, COO of Mindbreeze has briefly summarized the five most important trends for the year 2023.

1. Views of relevant information
for the department

The importance of specialist departments has increased significantly since the Corona crisis. According to a recent Info-Tech Report, 69 percent of the companies surveyed plan to increase staff focus on high-level tasks by automating repetitive tasks. In addition, 67 percent plan to increase productivity of existing staff to avoid increasing headcount.

Modern departments increasingly need highly specific solutions for special use cases in everyday business, such as quotation management or customer support in order to make their contribution to the business in the best possible way.

2. The importance of "Explainable AI" and "Adaptive AI" increases

Many companies are recognizing the benefits of "artificial intelligence (AI)," as a recent IEEE survey of global tech leaders shares that 98 percent of survey respondents agree that in 2023 and beyond, AI-powered autonomous, collaborative software and mobile robots will automate processes and tasks, including data analysis, allowing humans to be more efficient and effective.

This is precisely where "Explainable AI" comes into the picture. Explainability of the decisions of AI applications ensures more trust in the systems and acceptance on the user side. At the same time, the concrete benefits of AI are coming to the forefront (Adaptive AI). Smart systems will be used in specific use cases and functional areas to a much greater extent than before. It is important that they can adapt independently to changing situations and conditions.

3. From Intelligent Document Processing to Intelligent Information Processing

Next-generation intelligent document processing is even more focused than before on the information available in documents – whether it be personal names or order numbers in texts. These solutions use AI, deep learning, machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), and other technologies to extract information from unstructured sources such as written documents or images, categorize it, and assign it to the relevant departments using automated workflows.

4. Sentiment analysis to evaluate the importance of information

Sentiment analysis aims at the ability to efficiently and sustainably get a grip on the flood of unstructured data.
The focus is on tone and the mood of a piece of information.

The aim is to automatically prioritize the importance of messages or statements with the help of AI and machine learning technology. Areas of application include ticketing systems, online reviews, brand monitoring, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) where the current image of potential takeover can be evaluated.

5. The future is sustainable

Sustainability manifests itself on many levels. According to Gartner's "Top Strategic Technology Trends 2023," sustainable technologies form a framework of solutions that helps achieve greater sustainability. Investments in sustainable technologies also have the potential to improve operational resilience and financial performance while opening up new growth opportunities.

All in all, 2023 is all about the information itself and its sustainable use. Modern insight engines that unite a variety of data sources under one roof, condense information and deliver it precisely and tailored to the respective application, help companies act more efficiently, successfully, and sustainably.
