AI-based information provision for different departments

Optimization of data access and analysis through 360-degree views

The increasing amounts of data from many different data sources makes it difficult to retrieve and provide information quickly. To combat this, an internationally active manufacturer of processing plants for the semiconductor industry, microsystems technology and nanotechnology, needed a solution that would enable employees to access relevant information quickly and in a personalized way.

Task

In areas such as purchasing, support, construction and production, having the required documents available quickly is crucial. However, due to the different data sources and the ever-increasing amounts of data, research activities became difficult and time-consuming. Therefore, the large company decided to test solutions for the automated provision of relevant data to support employees in their daily work.

Solution

After a comprehensive evaluation of the insight engine market using a platform for market analysis, trends, and evaluations in the IT industry, they chose Mindbreeze InSpire. Mindbreeze impressed with its indexing of structured and unstructured data, its extraction of semantic entities, and its ability to provide personalized search results, tailored to the requirements of a specific department or employee. In addition, Mindbreeze's Insight App Designer can be used to create individually configurable 360-degree views to provide employees with a complete overview of any object in the company. Mindbreeze InSpire prepares this information according to the roles and areas of activity. Taking into account access rights, employees only see information that is relevant to them as results.

Implementation

During a 28-day test phase, the company evaluated two 360-degree views that were configured for them (of projects and products). To do this, Mindbreeze InSpire indexed data from a provided data pool. After a successful proof of concept, the first internal data sources were connected and further company-specific 360-degree views were created together with the Mindbreeze consulting team. Using out-of-the-box connectors and a special connector, the company then independently connected additional data sources, such as OpenText, Microsoft Exchange, and SAP.

At the conclusion of 2023, the 360-degree views were integrated into the intranet, making it even easier for employees to access relevant information. In addition to the 360-degree views of projects and products, employees make particularly frequent use of the expert search, a 360-degree view of people and departments in the company.

Target Achievement

With Mindbreeze InSpire, employees now have a complete overview of the data they need, supplemented with additional information from other data sources. Various search tabs and filters refine results, making searches more efficient than ever before.
